Defending Republicans is not one of my favorite things to do, but in the past few years liberals have become especially vicious and dishonest. One clear example of this is their manufactured “Republican War on Women.” The article below does a pretty good job showing how liberals treat conservative women. And it’s written by, surprise, a woman. I guess she is a Judas to all those heroic liberal women out there.
If anybody hates women, it’s not the Republicans.
A video going around the internet shows a group of women confidently informing the viewer that their body is their own and they can decide for themselves what to put in it (like birth control), on it (tattoos and piercings) and what to remove from it (a fetus). I find videos like this odd since abortion is legal, birth control is legal, tattoos and body piercings are legal and there is no one in power currently challenging these laws. I really don’t understand the motivation behind it. Am I supposed to be outraged and call my congressmen demanding these things be made more legal? What do I do with the information you are giving me ladies?
The video appears to be simply an avenue to label the anti-abortion movement as really being anti-women’s choice. This is supported by the majority of the supporting comments on vimeo and by some of those posting the link. For example, one blogger links to the video and says that the entire abortion argument boils down to the single question of whether or not women have autonomous control of their bodies?
However, these people are flat wrong about the motives of the anti-abortion movement. For those who oppose the legalizing of abortion, like myself, it has nothing at all to do with the rights of the mother and everything to do with defining life and determining when terminating it is murder. For the religious minded it tends to start at conception. While I do not agree with this necessarily I also do not agree that life begins when the fetus passes through the birth canal. Ironically, even most abortion supporters tend to argue against late term abortions. For the most part unless they are advocating the termination of a fetus up until the time the entire body has passed through the birth canal, then almost everyone is some sort of anti-abortionist.
Furthermore, if the anti-abortion crowd were truly motivated by denying choices to women, then why aren’t they also campaigning to make things like tattoos and piercings illegal? The whole video smacks of an in your face I can do what I want rant for things that are already readily available. It makes me wonder just who they were trying to convince.
