While the media whips up more hysteria over “superstorm” Sandy, it’s important to look at the storm in context.

Another climate alarmist claim bites the dust

Overall, there is no evidence that there are changes in the strength, frequency, duration, location or direction of propagation of El Niño and La Niña anomalies caused by global warming during the period from 1871 to 2008.

Gillard: Australia must embrace ‘Asian Century’

I knew there was a reason I did not like this woman but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Gillard appears to be another self-loathing Westerner.

Whatever else this century brings, it will bring Asia’s return to global leadership, Asia’s rise. This is not only unstoppable, it is gathering pace

Apparently, there are leftists in the West who are aware that our civilization is in decline. They just don’t seem to care.

Bayonets and BS

The fighting techniques are trained as part of MCMAP, a weapons-based system beginning at assault fire and moving to the four elements of the fighting component (rifle and bayonet, edged weapons, weapons of opportunity, and unarmed combat).

Marine Corps Martial Arts Program MCRP 3-02B

If you are going to attempt to make your opponent look foolish in a debate, it’s always good to know what you are talking about. In the debate last night, President Obama tried to embarrass Romney by pointing out that our military does not use horses and bayonets. Except that our military does still use bayonets. I went to Marine Corps boot camp in 1995 and we trained with bayonets, and Marines still train with them today.

This is not the first military related gaffe of Obama’s. In a speech in 2010, the president mispronounced Navy Corpsman as “corpse” man. He did this more than once. This was worse than Bush’s continued use of “nucular,” which made me cringe every time he said it.

Additionally, Obama does not seem to realize that US troops, or our allies, do not typically use AK-47 machine guns. After the shooting in Colorado  he said,

But I also believe that a lot of gun owners would agree that AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not in the hands of criminals — that they belong on the battlefields of war and not on the streets of our cities.

I find this one particularly insulting because the AK-47 is a often a symbol of anti-Americanism. It’s a Russian weapon that is used all over the third world by terrorists and warlords because it is cheap and low maintenance. The fact that Obama does not know this tells me that he has not bothered to learn very much about the military that he commands.
